If the hunt was a successful one, the animal drags its prey to some place where it hides it from other predators and only then it can easily have rest and eat its deserved meal. If there is too much food and it is impossible to eat at once it will cover it and take a nap after that it can eat all the rest. Felines are capable of hiding food in secure places where no animal can find it. They start hunting independently at the age of 1.5-2 years. Their striped coat makes them barely visible in the wild, and what's more interesting about this particular subspecies, the coat color can change according to the season. Usually, it is bright red in summer and pale in winter.

This cat is much like other wildcats: it stalks its prey, and waits for a chance to attack successfully; and when such a chance comes, the animal attacks and makes a fatal bite to the neck to suffocate the prey. These felines are not very good hunters, and it may take more than 10 attacks to be a success. They hunt deer, elks and wild boar and usually catch young, old or ill animals that cannot run fast.
