The Siberian Tiger is already extinct in China and Korea, and its Russian population is also diminishing. The last estimates show that there are only a few hundred tigers left in the wild, and about as many in zoos. If the current tendency persists, there will be no Siberian Tigers in about 20 years.

Siberian Tigers are the biggest felines in the world, and they inhabit mountain woodlands of the area near the Sikhote-Alin mountain ridge of Russia, Northeast China and North Korea. They have a pale-brown coat, which is white on the belly and around the neck, and relatively sparse strip patterns. Their coat can change color according to the season, and it is usually bright red in summer and becomes paler in winter. Siberian Tigers have a thick coat that enables them to withstand severe cold.
